Bedfordshire Opportunities Grant
Grants are awarded to individual girls and adult members, providing opportunities for girls, to enable them to take part in a Guiding event or activity out of the meeting place which otherwise would have been prohibitive due to cost.
Applications should be made by the nominating unit leader on behalf of the individual and should be countersigned by the District Commissioner or the Division Commissioner if the leader making the application is the District Commissioner.
Applications can be made on behalf of an individual for one event in each calendar year.
Grants will be considered for up to 50% of the cost but no more that £200.
Following the event or activity, the recipient or nominating leader, if the recipient is unaware of the application being made on their behalf, will be required to provide a short report of the event or activity.
Applications cannot be made for events or activities that the County supports through other funding arrangements such as BP Adventure Weekends or members selected to attend International events.
The event or activity being attended should be at least two weeks following the Finance Committee meeting, except in exceptional circumstances.
BP Adventure Weekends
The payment for any BP Adventure Weekends needs to be made from Unit funds and the Unit leader can make the necessary claims from each of the levels as follows:
The County will fund £30 of the cost of a BP Adventure weekend for a Guide to attend an event, held within or outside the County. If the event is within County, this amount is usually taken into account when the fee is publicised. (The £30 includes the contributions that used to be claimed from directly District and Division.)
Any Unit contribution over £10 is at the discretion of the Unit leader.
It is suggested that the Guide funds at least £10 of the cost.
Bedfordshire International Grant
The Bedfordshire International grant is to help those members of Girlguiding Bedfordshire selected to take part in Guiding International trips outside of the UK.
Girls can apply for this grant a maximum of two times for different international trips. Leader can apply twice every five years and then reviewed for special circumstances, applications are for providing opportunities for the girls.
Those applying for this grant are not eligible to apply for any other Girlguiding Bedfordshire grant towards their trip.
Applications should be made to the County Commissioner.
Further details of International Opportunities can found on the website.
