Carolyn Hare

County Programme and Events Advisor

How long have you been in Girlguiding?

I have been a guide leader for over 30 years, in two different Counties. In that time, I have done Guides, Rangers, District and Division Commissioner, County Duke of Edinburgh Adviser and now County Programme and Adventure Adviser.

What does your role entail?

There are several parts to my role. The first part is to put together a County plan for activities to support the units. I then find a team to set up and run the activities. ( Dragons in Tiaras and Whipsnade Zoo trip) I also manage the ongoing activities like Wrest Park and Shuttleworth. The outdoor activities teams and International also come under this role and I support those teams in the activities they do and cover for any gaps.

What do you enjoy most in your role?

I love putting on events and after we had all been in lock down for so long, seeing so many members of Girlguiding Bedfordshire having fun at Whipsnade zoo last September is what makes this job.

Are there any stand out moments/any proud achievements?

The special moments that stand out in guiding are seeing several of my former Guides running units of their own and carrying the Olympic Torch in 2012 having been nominated for my roles in Girlguiding.
